Top 3 Vegetarian Eats at Flower and Garden Festival 2022
The 2022 Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot has been underway for a few weeks now, which means I’ve had enough time to visit, re-visit, and re-re-visit and sample all of the vegetarian food items from the Festival kiosks!
Yep, I’ve tried every dish that qualifies as vegetarian at this year’s Festival. After much deliberation, I’m ready to share my top 3 BEST food items that vegetarians (and vegans and plant-based eaters too!) should NOT skip…let’s get into it!
3- Impossible Korean Short Rib
The Trowel and Trellis kiosk is likely where most of my fellow vegetarian readers will flock. Every item on the menu is plant-based, including the incredible Impossible Korean Short Rib! The short rib dish is a dichotomy of varied flavors that come together oh so beautifully.
The ‘short rib’ portion is made of Impossible meat, and as usual with this brand, the ‘meat’ texture is recreated seamlessly. My favorite part of this dish- and why I recommend it- is for the medley of flavors.
This dish constantly surprised me with new flavors as I ate. The vegan mayo provided a creaminess, the slaw packed a crunch, the grilled veggies gave an unexpected warmth and the rice did its job at balancing it all out!
A classic and simple lunch or snack staple for pretty much every vegetarian I know is an easy slice of avocado toast. Disney’s version combines everything that makes avocado toast fantastic: a toasted, slightly oiled slice of fresh bread, a generous spread of avocado, and fresh toppings that make the flavors burst.
This year’s avocado toast featured a thick topping of mashed avocado with chunks of fresh, ripe avocado throughout. This means that Disney is using fresh avocados this year folks! This is a major upgrade from the pre-packaged avocado spread Disney has used on this toast in years past, and the change is very noticeable!
1- Chocolate Cake
The far and away best vegetarian item I’ve had this year is also the most surprising.
I wasn’t surprised that the chocolate cake with raspberry gelato and raspberry cream was good- but I was SHOCKED that a cake this dense and flavorful was 100% plant-based! The cake is as dense and delicious as it looks in the photo, and the (at first sparse) raspberry cream gave way to a river of deliciousness that ran through the whole of the cake.
The gelato portion is what brings this whole decadence together, and might be what surprised me most- the ‘ice cream’ is bursting with real raspberry flavor while somehow maintaining a perfect creamy texture that tastes exactly like the real, full-dairy version!
