My Disneyland career began when I was a freshman in college and needed a part-time job for spring break and over the summer.
The opportunity to work for Disneyland changed my life. Disney University was a two-day session to get immersed in Disneyland history and The Disney Way. I learned all about the Disney Look and how to treat guests and fellow cast members.
Westside merchandise was where I started – I worked mainly in the shops in New Orleans Square and LOVED it. After I’d been there awhile I got special training to work in Mlle. Antoinette’s Parfumerie, blending custom scents for guests. After a summer full of guest control during Fantasmic! shows I moved up to the Gallery above Pirates of the Caribbean. I eventually became a working lead in the Gallery.

Working a signing at the Disney Gallery at Disneyland – the author having a great conversation with Disney Legend Marc Davis.
That was my favorite place to work – I had wonderful interactions with guests, Disney stars and Imagineers. Because of the deep knowledge of Disney history I gained while working in the Gallery I was chosen to be the Disneyland Ambassador to the World for one year. That was my most magical year at Disney – when I was the official host, spokesperson and emissary of goodwill for Disneyland.

If you’ve been thinking you’d like to work at Disneyland – then I highly recommend you visit the Disneyland job fairs on February 16 or 25. They could change your life!
