“Every Friend is Golden,” the artist said in a Twitter post last night. She also shared a video of the performance in the tweet. The choice of Cher to perform the beloved theme song seems fitting as the ladies of “Golden Girls” ladies often talked about their love of the singer during the sitcom.
“Co-stars, friends, admirers and those who shared special moments with White recount their favorite memories and reveal untold stories to commemorate the life and legacy of the trailblazing television star. The telecast will include clips and never-before-seen footage that best capture White’s irreverent tone, spirit and impeccable comedic timing that are a hallmark of her decades-long career,” said NBC in a press release, according to an article by NBC Los Angeles.
The cherished actress, comedian and activitist passed away at 99 on New Years Eve. She would have celebrated her 100th brithday on January 17th. In honor of that day, #theBettyWhiteChallenge raised millions of dollars for animal charities worldwide. White long worked to advocate for animal welfare through her charity work as well as a television show, “Betty White’s Pet Set.”
Among those on the list for Monday’s night celebration of life are President Joe Biden, Bryan Cranston, Valerie Bertinelli, Drew Barrymore, and a host of comedians including Ellen DeGeneres, Tina Fey, Goldie Hawn, Jean Smart, and Tracy Morgan.
