BREAKING NEWS: EPCOT Horticulture Team Braces For Cold Temperatures This Weekend
You know you’re in for a cold weekend at the Most Magical Place on Earth when EPCOT’s cast members have decided to cover shrubs and flower beds throughout the parks in anticipation of a big Freeze.
During our visit to EPCOT today the lush landscaping was looking a bit different than usual with white plastic tarps covering most areas!
These precautions are not surprising with forecasters predicting that temperatures will get below freezing this evening.
As you can see from the forecast above taken from Weather.com, Tonight temperatures are expected to be in the upper 30s before sinking to a mere 31 degrees overnight. This means that it will be below freezing which more than likely will create a frost in Orlando this evening.
Tomorrow will be an exceptionally cool day for those visiting the theme parks. Forecasters are predicting temperatures not to get an higher than 49 degrees!
This means that those going to the parks tomorrow will want to take extra steps to stay warm throughout the day.
You’ll definitely want to layer your clothing and dig out those winter coats.
By the time Sunday rolls around, things will start to pick up with a high temperature of 57 degrees as we head out of the weekend. However, those hoping to escape the cold north in favor of Florida’s tropical climes will definitely be disappointed by the cold snap.
With that in mind, Disney is working to preserve the beautiful gardens you’ll find at theme parks and resorts throughout Disney World.
So if the white tarps seem plentiful during your visit, you’ll know why.
This is a story that we’ll continue to follow closely including any closures that might occur as a result of the cold weather.
