Spider-Man: Brings in $50 Million on Thursday Previews and Heading Toward $220 Million Opening Weekend
Are your Spidey-senses tingling because we suspect that this weekend its going to be all about Spider-Man: No Way Home! The film is already defying box office expectations and insiders including The Hollywood Reporter are not speculating that the third film in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man run will pull in a might $220 million on opening weekend.
This figure would make it one of the top four openings of all time at the domestic box office as well as the first film to earn past $100 million in domestic launch since the start of the pandemic!

The film brought in an above-expected $50 million on Thursday previews along and will reportedly add another $100 million in earnings after Friday night!
As THR tells us, the film has already scored the third-biggest preview of all time. It now sits just behind Avengers: Endgame ($60 million) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($57 million) which is pretty amazing considering that we are STILL in the middle of a pandemic and there are growing concerns over the omicron variant.

In previews, the film has also tripled the earnings of Spider-Man: Homecoming which earned $15.4 million during its Thursday opening. No Way Home began screening in theaters as early as 3pm yesterday (December 16) at over more than 3,700 theaters. Going into the weekend, it will now be showing in 4,325 cinemas including all Imax locations.

If you plan on seeing the film this weekend, you may want to tread carefully when surfing the internet. There are a TON of spoilers just now even though Sony seems to be working overtime to quash them. But at the moment it doesn’t look as if this will have an impact on those box office numbers!

When it comes to overseas predictions, it has already started launching in select markets. It had a $10.1 million opening in the UK and Ireland and now has the distinction of being the best Wednesday opening film of all time and Sony’s best ever!
If tracking holds, THR estimates that the film could earn as much as $300 – $400 million globally! Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for more Spider-Man news and updates! This is something we’ll certainly be tracking.
