Today is the day…Walt Disney World Day, that is! December 3 is now, officially, the day the world celebrates Disney World in honor of its 50th anniversary.

In fact, Orange County, Florida posted the following Tweet regarding the celebration. Therefore, it was a big day for the resort, Orange County, and the Central Florida community.

Also, Orlando’s mayor, Buddy Dyer, posted this Tweet. He, too, was honored to recognize Walt Disney World during this proclamation. In addition, he thanked Disney VoluntEARS for helping and strengthening Central Florida through generously giving their kindness and time.

After the proclamation, Walt Disney World VoluntEARS also sorted and packed food at the Second Harvest Food Bank. They worked alongside Walt Disney World leaders and local government officials.
This special day was declared due to the resort’s dedication to non-profit organizations. Hence, the Walt Disney Company donated $3 million to six Central Florida non-profit organizations, including:
- Give Kids the World Village
- The Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida
- Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida
- Heart of Florida United Way
- Hope Partnership
- ELEVATE Orlando

Jeff Vahle, president of Walt Disney World Resort, received the official proclamation. Yesterday, the Walt Disney Company representatives stated, “For 50 years, Walt Disney World Resort has served as a beacon of hope and happiness in the Central Florida area, bringing the beloved magic found across the resort to children and families in our neighboring communities.”
