November 4th brought an exciting evening of music, art, and theater for fans of Winnie the Pooh!
It was the opening night of the highly- anticipated, Winnie the Pooh:The New Musical Adaptation.
Musical Adaptation
This charming production opened at the Hundred Acre Woods Theatre on Theatre Row November 4th, 2021.
This exciting stage show is an all new story that features your favorite classic characters including Eeyore, Piglet, Kanga, Tigger, Pooh, and more!
The family-friendly production is presented by Jonathan Rockefeller and Rockefeller Productions. The same team that has brought other successful shows including The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show and Paddington Gets in a Jam.
The new show features the classic music of the Sherman Brothers. The Oscar- and Grammy-winning songwriting duo behind multiple Disney classics. However, this fresh production is unique in that it features larger-than-life puppets of the beloved characters by A. A. Milne.
The Creative and Production Team
According to Playbill.com, the new production features the talented and creative team of Nate Edmonson (music/orchestration), Lindsay McWilliams (costume deign), Jamie Roderick (lighting design), and scenic design by David Goldstein, Matthew Herman, and Johnny Figueredo.
The lead puppet builders Matthew Lish and Ben Durocher bring to life these iconic characters.
The cast also features Jake Bazel as Winnie the Pooh, Chris Palmieri as the energetic Tigger, and Kirsty Moon as Piglet/Roo! Emmanuel Elpenord portrays the role of the lethargic Eeyore, Rabbit, and Owl with Kristina Dizon as Kanga/Owl.
In addition, the fresh musical features new toe-tapping songs, but still includes fan favorites “The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers” and “A Rather Blustery Day.”
The Adaptation
The show is approximately 55-minutes and suitable for ages 3+. The family-friendly musical features many of the classic Sherman songs written for the Winnie the Pooh franchise.
The new score and updated music honors the Winnie the Pooh musical history present throughout the years at Disney, including the 1980’s cartoon series, The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Piglet’s Big Movie (2003), and The Tigger Movie. The show is playing in New York City on Theater Row.
