“Circle of Life” Voted Best Disney Song of All Time
Not matter how much or little you love Disney, chances are you still have a favorite Disney song. From Aladdin’s “Whole New World” to Jungle Book’s “Bare Necessities” there are so many incredible DIsney songs that we’re sure you’ve belted at least one at the top of your lungs at some point! But which one consistently ranks as people’s favorite?
This was exactly the question that Ranker posed to its readers earlier this year and the results are in. “Circle of Life” from Disney’s The Lion King came out as the clear front-runner. We were slightly surprised that this beat out other classics like “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo’ from Cinderella to “Beauty and the Beast.”
‘Circle of Life’ was composed by Elton John with lyrics by Tim Rice for the 1994 animated feature The Lion King. Performed by Carmen Twillie and featuring Zulu language vocals by Lebo M. it is the film’s grand opening number. As Tyla tells us, the song would go on earn an Oscar nomination for Best Song along with two other songs from the film – “Hakuna Matata” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” which actually took home the award.
For those wondering who made the top 5 here’s a rundown.
- Circle of Life- The Lion King
- A Whole New World – Aladdin
- Be Our Guest – Beauty and the Beast
- Prince Ali – Aladdin
- Under the Sea – The Little Mermaid
The countdown has been ticking along on Ranker music since March of this year! It’s been a perfect pastime for those sitting at home during quarantine. The list actually goes all the way through to 89.
So who came out at the bottom? Poor Giselle. According to the Ranker poll it was “So Close” from the Disney film Enchanted.
