BREAKING NEWS: Shanghai Disney on Temporary Lockdown After COVID-19 Scare
Things have turned into a bit of a nightmare at Shanghai Disneyland this Halloween weekend. We are waking up to reports that the parks went into temporary lockdown this Halloween evening due to concerns over the potential spread of COVID-19.
In a statement released today Shanghai Disney states, “We have temporarily suspended entry into Shanghai Disneyland and Disneytown, and some attractions inside the park will also temporarily stop operating. Outdoor entertainment will continue as scheduled.”
According to a recent piece in Shanghai Daily, and emergency notice was issued by the Shanghai government issued an emergency notice on Sunday night. The notice stated that all of those guests who had been at Shanghai Disneyland on Halloween weekend (October 30 – 31) must report to their communities and workplaces for an immediate nucleic acid test.
The notice went on to say that guests are expected to quarantine at home for at least two days at which nucleic acid tests must be undergone. The government is expect visitors to have these tests on the first, second, seventh and fourteenth days.
Guests inside the park on Sunday night were required to undergo nucleic acid testing at the exit when leaving the property and will only be allowed to return home after test results come back negative. Further testing will be required after 24 hours. If tests come back negative, guests will be asked to follow a 12-day self-health monitoring program.
A public notice is NOW posted on the Shanghai Disney website confirming that entry has been suspended. Here’s a look at the chaos inside Shanghai Disney at the time of the lockdown:

According to the Shanghai Daily, Shanghai’s Metro has also stopped operations at the Disney Resort Stop (Line 11.) People are prohibited from entering or exiting the station.
