CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: Work on Tron Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom
Though a lot of the attention this fall has been on the recent opening of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT that’s not the only new attraction on the horizon. TRON Lightcycle Ran has been under construction for quote some time now.
We were at the Magic Kingdom this afternoon and popped over to take a look at how construction is coming along on this headlining Tomorrowland attraction.
This new coaster has had Disney fans excited for a few years now and it’s been so much fun to watch the progress of this state-of-the-art attraction.
Just like in the TRON films, guests will board a lifecycle head out into cyberspace. The ride utilizes both an indoor coaster element as well as large outer canopy which will be illuminated to replicate the tech-heavy theme the film that inspired it.
There is so much intricacy to the large canopy structure that is has slowly been taking shape over the past year.
It promises to be mesmerizing both from the inside and the outside when it is finally completed.
As of yet, Disney World has yet to announce an official opening day for the attraction.
The COVID-19 shutdown of the theme parks did set back progress but as of yet, we aren’t sure how far behind Disney is.
The attraction has also had an impact on the Walt Disney World railroad which has also been closed since the theme parks reopened last year. The TRON canopy structure runs over the area that used to have the railroad track.
The train will need to be rerouted and in the meantime is closed to the public.
For those interested in getting a good luck of the TRON construction site, we recommend looking from Storybook Circus in the area closest to the Barnstormer queue.
Another great location is the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.
The PeopleMover offers elevated views of the entire construction site as you zoom by.
We’ll be visiting the theme park each and every week.
