Recapping The ‘Eternals’ World Premiere as Marvels Newest Franchise is Born
The wait is over and the arrival of one of Marvels Studio’s most anticipated films, and the MCU’s newest franchise is finally upon us as we finally have the Eternals world premiere!
Eternals was one of the Marvel films unfortunately delayed due to the outfall of the COVID-19 pandemic, and finally, fans are getting their first look at the film at this world premiere as we recap the events that unfolded during that incredible night.

A debut that seemed centuries in the making, the premiere was beautifully decorated and themed to match a lot of the Eternals aesthetic that we’ve gotten during the film’s promotional run.
The premiere sported the circular pattern that is present on every Eternals outfit, with the brilliant display being brought to life by the presence of a mass of fans who came out to support the film’s debut.

The film’s premiere was met by droves of passionate MCU faithful cosplaying as some of their favorite Marvel characters, and some of their favorite new Eternals characters as well.
Seeing fans come out dressed as everyone from the likes of Spider-Man, Shang-Chi, Black Knight, and every one of the ten Eternals; it was beautiful to see the diverse collection of people, each with a character they saw themselves in.

The night started with the young and incredibly talented Lia McHugh who portrays the character of Sprite in the film.
McHugh spoke on her excitement in playing the youngest Marvel Superhero to enter the MCU, her character’s power of illusions, and playing a character so young in appearance, yet centuries old.

The next red carpet appearance came from Lauren Riddolf who portrays the MCU’s greatest speedster Makkari.
The young deaf actress noted the immense privilege she felt in bringing this character to life and revealed some interesting tidbits about the rebellious nature of Makkari; who may or may not also be a hoarder of historical artifacts.

One of the highlights of the film’s promotional campaign has been the ultra superpowers Ikaris, played by the brilliant Richard Madden.
Madden spoke about the physically demanding time on set, but the rewarding nature of being able to do the film using primarily practical effects; well…except for the laser vision.

Kumail Nanjiani followed closely, with his bright and brilliant purple suit seemingly paying homage to his performance as the charismatic Kingo.
Nanjiani got very emotional reminiscing on his journey from performing stand-up comedy in comic book shops to taking part in Comic-Con as a fan, to finally being able to enter the revered ‘Hall H’ after being cast in this life-changing role.

Angelina Jolie was next to appear on the red carpet, sporting a beautiful white dress with gold a gold lip accent piece that paid homage to the white and gold associated with her character in the film.
Jolie and Nanjiani shared a beautiful moment, as the veteran actor was interviewed by her costar, noting the immense strength and vulnerability present in Thena; attributes that so strongly connected the actress to her character.

Kit Harrington also makes his MCU debut in the upcoming Eternals film; appearing at the world premiere to usher in his first appearance as Dane Whitman in style.
Harrington spoke about the honor of working for Marvel and reconnecting with his former Game of Thrones costar Richard Madden on the highly anticipated film.

Following the many stars of the film was one of the story’s most critical characters, the Eternal known as Seris, played by none other than Gemma Chan.
Chan noted her previous role in Captain Marvel, and spoke a bit about her characters onagain off again relationship with Ikaris; noting how her long time friendship with Richard Madden helped the portrayal of that relationship on screen.

Fans also met Phastos himself, Brian Tyrell Henry; who is more widely know as the technopath of the Eternals family.
Henry spoke of his love for the Dora Milaje, his passion for comic books growing up, and his inherent desire to give young black men a superhero as powerful, passionate, and undeniably human as his character in Eternals.

The strongest of the Eternals is none other than the imposing Gilgamesh, portrayed by the brilliant Don Lee.
With over 100 films to the credit of the South Korean superstar, Lee was an integral part of the A-List cast of the Eternals, but also of the Studios inclusive initiative.

The radiant and incredibly talented Salma Hayek was one of the night’s most anticipated arrivals, as the veteran actress brought immense humanity to her role; alongside her immense passion for the source material.
Hayek spoke of her deep love for Ajak, the world that Chloe Zhao brought to life in the Eternals, and the familial aspects of the film that lay at the center of the entire story.

The duo perhaps most responsible for the making of the film, Chloe Zhao and Kevin Feige, where next up on the carpet and spoke glowingly about each other and incredible film they created.
The duo noted the Jack Kirby inspiration to the overall visual and narrative elements of the film, and Zhao’s inspirations behind the ancient yet futuristic technology of these immortal Eternals.
The Eternals world premiere gave those in attendance their first look at the highly anticipated film, but also gave fans their first look at the excitement and passion clearly seen in the dedicated cast and crew who worked tirelessly to bring it to life.
