“Chapek will be part of a panel of business leaders set to discuss the White House’s vaccine mandate, which instructs OSHA (the Occupational Health and Safety Administration) to require companies with at least 100 employees to have their workers either receive a vaccination against COVID-19 or be tested for the virus regularly.
Other executives at the meeting will include Microsoft CEO Brad Smith and Walgreens CEO Roz Brewer.
Chapek’s Washington discussion topics
“The president will discuss their leadership on putting into place strong COVID-19 requirements that help keep a safe workplace,” according to a White House official. “This event will also serve as a rallying cry for more businesses across the country to step up and institute similar measures.”
Disney has already said that employees that work on-site at its offices or parks will be required to be vaccinated.
“Since the president’s announcement last Thursday, we continue to see broad-based support from across the country for vaccine requirements and similar efforts,” the White House official adds. “The reason is simple: vaccine requirements are good for the economy and they work — they get more people vaccinated and accelerate the path out of the pandemic.”

Disney vaccine mandate
“At the Walt Disney Co., the safety and well-being of our employees during the pandemic has been and continues to be a top priority,” the company said in a statement introducing its mandate that “all salaried and nonunion hourly employees in the U.S. working at any of our sites be fully vaccinated.”
The more stringent policy is “based on the latest recommendations of scientists, health officials and our own medical professionals that the COVID-19 vaccine provides the best protection against severe infection,” Disney said in the statement.

Disney employs more than 200,000 workers worldwide.
“Employees who aren’t already vaccinated and are working on-site will have 60 days from today to complete their protocols and any employees still working from home will need to provide verification of vaccination prior to their return, with certain limited exceptions,” Disney said in the statement.

“Vaccines are the best tool we all have to help control this global pandemic and protect our employees.”
Agreements have been reached with the unions at Walt Disney World regarding the vaccine mandate.
