Disney & Tavistock Could Be Collaborating on Age-Restricted Community in Orlando
According to a recent piece in Orlando Business Journal, Disney is in talks to build an age-restricted community in Orlando with Lake Nona developer Tavistock.
It is believed that this new area will be located in the Sunbridge development which takes up about 27,000 acres in the Lake Nona community.
Though we don’t know a lot of details just yet when it comes to size, architecture or layout, speculation is that this area will almost be like a smaller version of The Villages which is a large retirement community just north of Orlando for those 55 and older.
Demand is definitely there Disney friends! as OBJ tells us, The Villages was the fastest growing area in the US for house sales over the last 10 years and is the second most popular planned community for 2021 (a figure that is based on home sales.)
So is this a wise investment for Disney? Real Estate pros say yes. With the aging Baby Boomer population, demand for senior living centers is expected to increase. Orlando itself is expect to have over 1 million people that are over the age of 65 between 2025 and 2030 according to the Orlando Business Journal!
Couple this with the fact that Disney’s brand appeals to theme park goers of all generations and you may just have a recipe for success. After all, many of those retirees looking to move into the Orlando area while have grandchildren eager to visit the theme parks making it a perfect spot to host family vacations.
It is very early days for Disney’s Lake Nona development. However, this is a story that we will continue to follow closely. Readers are encouraged to keep checking back with us for further news and updates!
