More Buildings Start to Go Up Around TRON Lightcycle Power Run
Every time MickeyBloggers visit the Magic Kingdom, we always have to make sure to stop by the site of the park’s most highly-anticipated upcoming coaster attraction.
Check out the new construction updates we spotted recently.
The construction on TRON: Lightcycle Power Run feels like it has been going on forever – and that’s because we just can’t wait to ride the attraction!
This high-speed, one-of-a-kind coaster has been under construction in Tomorrowland for well over a year now, but each time we stop by the site to check it out, there always seems to be something new to spot…
Around the back of Storybook Circus in the Magic Kingdom is usually one of the best places to check for updates in TRON’s construction, but today the first thing we noticed was a new line of thick, green shrubbery had been added along the fence.
As you can see, these new trees are very effective in their job of reducing the unattractive eyesore caused by the ongoing construction, but it does mean that our view of the site has been jeopardized!
Not to worry, however, as the ramped queue area for the Barnstormer happens to be right next to us. Let’s go up there instead and see what we can see!
From the ramp, it looks like construction is still very much underway, with so many elements of the attraction being worked on at once.
We can see multiple cranes working on various areas of the outdoor parts unfinished coaster, which will be covered by a huge, lit canopy.
The above photo shows the gap where the coaster track will drop steeply out of the main show building, underneath the blue canopy.
This sure is one high coaster – will you be brave enough to ride?
Unfortunately, Disney is still yet to announce an opening date for this attraction. It was originally hoped the coaster would be finished in time for the park’s 50th Anniversary this October, but it no longer looks like this will be the case.
However, we are still hopeful that the 50th Anniversary will provide a good opportunity for more announcements to be made about the future of the Walt Disney World resort and its attractions, so stay tuned to hear what is said!
If you peer behind the tangle of cranes, supports and building work going on in this image, you can just about spot the track for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover attraction, which briefly passes by the construction site.
If you want to get an even closer look at the progress from the Peoplemover, make sure you have your cameras ready as you speed past!
It looks like cranes and support beams are pointing in every possible direction on the coaster site right now!
Thankfully, it looks like a bright, dry day for the construction workers.
Some interesting progress we can spot, however, is that a series of smaller buildings appear to have been erected outside the attraction.
As you can see, there is a red-ish metal frame on the left hand side of the photo, external to the main, gray show building.
There are more smaller, stone structures being worked on today too.
We can’t say for sure what any of these structures will be. It could be that the larger structure will form a queue area for the attraction perhaps, or even just a maintenance area.
Either way, we can’t wait for this not-so-magical construction site to be transformed into the futuristic, thrilling attraction which TRON: Lightcycle Power Run is destined to be!
These construction workers, all very protected in face masks and hard hats, must be hard at work.
We can’t wait to see TRON: Lightcycle Power Run finished, with that wavy canopy all lit up next to Space Mountain.
