Disney Officially Wants ‘Free Guy’ Sequel According to Ryan Reynolds
One of the year’s biggest films, the often delayed 20th-Century Fox and Disney pictures video game based movie has done relatively well its opening weekend; it’s being reported that Disney officially wants a Free Guy sequel according to star Ryan Reynolds.
The COVID-19 Pandemic forced the movie industry to freeze, delaying a plethora of projects multiple studios; one film to suffer from these circumstances was 20th Century Fox’s, Free Guy.
The Shawn Levy-directed project tells the story of Guy, an NPC (non-playable character), who exists within the confines of a video game; until he accepts the challenge of saving his friends from deletion at the hands of the game’s creator.
The film was written by Matt Lieberman and Zack Penn; while staring phenomenal actors such as Jodie Comer, and Disney’s own Taika Waititi.

It was The Hollywood Reporter who first reported the news that Ryan Reynolds made Disney’s desire for a Free Guy sequel known to the veteran actor.
The actor confirmed that “after 3 years messaging as an IP movie, Disney confirmed today they officially want a sequel.”

The statement was echoed by Shawn Levy who replied with a swift but impactful, “Yuuuuuuuuuup.”
The film has been widely loved by critics and audiences alike for its interesting take on the ever-growing video game film genre.
Ryan Reynolds has become one of the most irreplaceable stars in the film, with his wit and charm making him the perfect choice to play the innocently hilarious Guy.
There is no news yet as to if the writers had planned to eventually build a franchise around the film, but Disney officially wanting a Free Guy sequel is good news no matter how you look at it.
With Disney’s purchase of Fox, the film inadvertently signed on to collaborate with Ryan Reynolds on a fairly regular basis.
Reynolds and Fox had a very productive relationship; with their work on Deadpool bringing to the world one of the most iconic characters to the superhero genre.
Reynolds is going to reprise his role as Deadpool within the Marvel Cinematic Universe; with Disney’s desire to work with him on a Free Guy sequel speaking well towards their collaborative efforts gion forward.
