Magic Kingdom Will Close Early Tonight, With No Fireworks for Guests
If you’re planning on heading to the Magic Kingdom today, make sure you take note that the park is scheduled to close much earlier than normal.
Any regular visitor to the Disney Parks will agree that it is always best practice to check those park calendars before confirming your plans, and today proves a good example of that rule. Checking My Disney Experience, we can see that the Magic Kingdom is set to close its gates to guests at the rather early time of 6pm this evening, August 14th.
It has been confirmed by Disney that this is due to a private event – meaning a company or events-holder has booked out the whole park for their exclusive use. Although we don’t know which organization has got the keys to the kingdom tonight, we sure do wish we were joining them!
It is often the case that these private events include exclusive nighttime spectaculars, so guests staying in the Magic Kingdom resort area may likely see or hear fireworks erupting over the skies later on tonight.
Sadly, the park’s earlier closing time does mean that there will be no performances of Happily Ever After tonight. This may come as a particular blow to guests who had hoped to view the show tonight, as the fireworks spectacular is sadly in its last weeks before retiring to make way for Disney Enchantment at the end of September.
However, the magical thing about Walt Disney World is that there is always so much more fun to be found elsewhere! Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be open until 9pm tonight, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 8pm. Epcot will stay open until 10pm, with a performance of Epcot Forever showing at that time. But remember, even though the Park Hopping option has returned to Walt Disney World, guests will still need a Park Pass reservation to gain admission into any park this evening.
For more information on how Park Pass and Park Hopping works this year at Walt Disney World, you can read our handy guide here.
As always, keep checking My Disney Experience for updates on park hours and events. And, of course, you can also always get all the news and updates you’ll need right here on MickeyBlog.com!
