Festival of Fantasy is Back…With Changes?
Festival of Fantasy Parade made its official return today! Throngs of excited guests queued up along the curbs of Main Street USA in anticipation of the re-opening Parade today, and we were there to take it all in. So, now that the parade is back let me answer the biggest question out there: are there any changes?
Festival of Fantasy
Festival of Fantasy is an explosion of color, light, and music that celebrates the stories and characters that are unique to Fantasyland. The parade has been long known for its incredible floats and dozens of characters and dancers that accompany them, but today’s parade was slightly different than it was back in 2020…SLIGHTLY being the very key word here!
There are two changes I noticed to the Parade, but I use the word ‘changes’ very lightly here. First off, there are fewer dancers in the parade in general. Don’t worry- each section is still strongly represented and had I not seen the parade dozens of times before it closed, it’s something that never would have struck me as different or lacking whatsoever.
Secondly, social distancing is still in place among the parade performers. For example: instead of Wendy and Peter sailing in their pirate ship together, Wendy is now on the ground dancing with the Lost Boys while Peter sails solo.
Minnie and Mickey’s tandem finale float is another example of this. Minnie has been moved from the hot air balloon and now plays and dances with the characters, while Mickey is featured in the balloon. Different? Yes. Less impactful? Not at all.
The overall takeaway for me was not any of these slight changes, but the fact that I stood on Main Street USA today and actually watched the full Festival of Fantasy Parade march before my eyes. The epic music triumphantly played through Magic Kingdom, the floats glided by effortlessly, and the Maleficent dragon float breathed fire over the cheering crowds. Festival of Fantasy is BACK everyone…and we can’t wait to see it again and again!
