How Will Marvel’s Multiverse Impact ‘Shang-Chi’?
Marvel has, thus far, had a legendary 2021; with the incredible success of their Disney+ exclusive series, and the Black Widow film, it is time to prepare for their newest Marvel Hero; but one question stands out, how will Marvel’s multiverse impact Shang-Chi?
The Marvel Series of 2021 have created a seismic shift in the Marvel Cinematic Universe; with Wandavision, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Loki all working towards preparing the MCU for its post-Infinity Saga existence.
In Wandavision, fans were shown the most powerful hero in the Marvel Universe. In Falcon and The Winter Soldier, fans saw the fallout and transformation of a post-Thanos world. While in Loki, fans saw the destruction of the Multiverse and the ushering of Marvel’s next greatest threat.
The question now becomes, what does all of this mean for whatever next for the MCU? What follows the Nexus-level destruction of the multiverse at the conclusion of Loki?
Black Widow finally arrived for fans this summer; yet, its place as a prequel allows it to not be hindered by the chronological events that concluded Loki’s,
In Marvel’s newest Disney+ series, fans will see stories collected from the multiverse; as What If…? and its connection to the MCU prove it to be a series that is dealing with the fallout of Loki’s season one finale.
But what of the next film in Marvel’s 2021 slate? How will Marvel’s multiverse impact Shang-Chi?
Due to the all-encompassing nature of the nexus event following Loki’s first season, it is fair to assume that every new Marvel property will be impacted by the rupturing of the multiverse; the question is how great the impact will be.
In terms of how Shang-Chi will deal with the multiverses fracturing, it is fair to assume that it will be a noticeable event.
When the original slate of films where announced, Shang-Chi still occurred before Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness; this could mean that Marvel has always meant for the events of Shang-Cchi’s film to deal with the Multiverse in some way.
I would imagine that, as was originally planned, there is some connection between the Doctor Strange sequel and the event of Shang-Chi.
It may be a small cameo, or perhaps an after-credits scene, it could be a massive part of the narrative; either way, the ripple effect of Sylvie’s decision during Loki’s season one finale will be seen in every film following.
It is up to fans of the MCU to spot every repercussion of the destruction of the multiverse.
In just under one month, well finally see what impact it’s had on the origin story of Marvel’s Shang-Chi.
