Two Iconic Disneyland Restaurants Permanently Closed
Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel and PCH Grill at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel have been closed – permanently.
Why would Disneyland make this decision?
No surprise, it comes down to the coronavirus pandemic. Being closed for 16 months just didn’t allow for the sustainability of these two restaurants.
Disney is reportedly looking into options for both restaurants. Fans are hoping for a quick changeover for Steakhouse 55. In 2006 the old Granville Steakhouse had a name change to Steakhouse 55.
But this time the restaurant has truly closed, and Disney has not given us any indication on when a new restaurant could take up residence.
Fans are worried about the closure of PCH Grill. Disney’s Paradise Pier closed the Japanese restaurant Yamabuki in 2009 – and 12 years later there’s no new restaurant in that space.
Disneyland needs more restaurants – not fewer!
Surely Disney recognizes the need for more restaurant options at Disneyland and gets something new to replace PCH Grill soon.
Restaurants at Disneyland are slowly reopening post-pandemic. July will be a big month with 10 restaurants reopening – many already have. Two restaurants at the Disneyland Hotel – Trader Sam’s and Tangaroa Terrace reopened on July 2.
Losing the best breakfast
Steakhouse 55 was known for – shocker – great steaks. It was also a favorite for lobster tail at Christmas. But what fans are most disappointed to lose are the breakfasts. Many fans have bemoaned the loss of the eggs Benedict.
Luckily for us, Disney released the recipe earlier this year.
