It’s a Sad Day. The First Ever Disney Store Is Officially Closing.
The first ever Disney Store has officially announced a closing date. The store inside the Glendale Galleria will close its doors for good on July 14, 2021, per an announcement on the location’s official shopDisney website.

The store in Glendale, CA first opened its doors to Guests on March 28, 1987. It was Hollywood-themed because back then, the original plan was to have every Disney Store represent the community in which it was located. The Glendale location was the first Disney retail shop located outside of a Disney Park. Naturally, hundreds of people showed up on opening day and thus began a long run of successful Disney Stores around the world.

Unfortunately, with most people switching to online shopping, hundreds of Disney Stores have been forced to close worldwide. Most recently, it was announced that all UK stores will be shutting their doors, with the exception of their flagship London and Dublin locations. As a 90s kid, it’s hard to accept that the Disney Store will soon become a thing of the past – a mere childhood memory. I think I speak on behalf of Disney fans everywhere when I say, Disney Store, you will be missed dearly!
