May The 4th To Feature Star Wars Fan Art on Disney+
Star Wars Day will feature fan views of a galaxy far, far away….
A long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, a kid who looked like a little me liked to draw spaceships and robots and heroes.
But then I picked up a baseball bat instead of a pencil.
Some 30 years later, I often wish I had kept the pencil. Especially when I look back at my batting average and see some of the art my fellow Star Wars fans produce.
Disney Plus: Fan Art Flaunted On The Fourth
Next week — on May the 4th and via Disney+ — we’ll all get a glimpse into the mind’s eyes of artists who envision spectacular worlds inspired by George Lucas.
At least a few of you are wondering, “Why is May 4 ‘Star Wars Day’?”
Well, you remember the phrase “May the Force be with you.” So, “May the Fourth (be with you).”
It’s a great day (especially in my house, as it is my youngest boy, Luke’s, birthday).
He’s still a little too young (5) to “get” Star Wars; he is solidly into The Incredible Hulk at the moment. The green guy is a little more simple to figure.
However, he is beginning to enjoy my old school Star Wars figures (especially Boba Fett) and my newer droids (particularly R2D2).
But I think he will recognize the special pictures going up on Disney+ for his birthday.
In preparation, the StarWars.com team posted:
In celebration of the galaxy’s greatest fan holiday, Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Company have commissioned fan artists from all over the world to create new pieces for Disney+. Kicking the series off today is a breathtaking mural by Zi Xu, a poster illustrator, and cover artist, depicting the heroes and villains of the saga. You can find the artwork on the main Star Wars landing page on Disney+, and check it out below!”
Like the one above, the fan art will be featured on most Star Wars Disney Plus programming through May 9.
I can’t wait to see it!
