The artwork you see above has been given the title “King Chad” and now has a permanent home at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. The transfer of this display was made possible due to a generous donation by Imagineer Nikkolas Smith who created the piece. It was Smith’s hope that this piece would continue to inspire the patients at CHLA.
This is not the first time Disney has joined forces with CHLA. According to a recent piece in Disney Parks Blog, The Walt Disney Company has a decades-long commitment to provide comfort and inspiration to children facing serious illness. One way is to bring immersive Disney experiences to the hospital for patients and their families.

On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, a beautiful piece of art entitled, “King Chad” was put on display in the Downtown Disney District to pay tribute to ‘Black Panther’ star, Chadwick Boseman. Artist Nikkolas Smith, who is also a former Disney Imagineer, was among the first to see his artwork featured in the District. This art installation will be on display in Downtown Disney through Dec. 31, 2020.
When asked about his donation, Smith, who has worked as an Imagineer for 11 years, including on the upcoming Avengers Campus said. “I was also humbled to visit the set of Black Panther, where I met Chadwick in-person and witnessed his kindness firsthand. Looking at this artwork now, it really married together so many meaningful moments during my time at Disney.”
You can see Boseman as the titular character in Marvel’s Black Panther which has a home at the Disney+ streaming network.
