Walt Disney World Railroad Refurbishment Continues Park-Wide
On a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, I spent some time in Town Square taking in the Walt Disney World Train refurbishment. The WDW Railroad has been closed for years, and I for one can’t wait to take a grand tour of Magic Kingdom when it’s back up and running!
Although the train station is wrapped behind construction walls, I was able to catch glimpses of what was happening on the main Train Station platform! It looks to me like some metal structures have been placed along the loading platform for plexiglass barriers. That would be a really good sign, as that means they’re gearing up to bring it back sooner rather than later.
Fantasyland
Over at the Fantasyland Station, the tracks that have been ripped up for the Tron construction have been placed along the track route!
The tracks and supports are stacked right outside the Tron construction walls, sitting just to the right of where the tracks usually lie.
Along the Fantasyland Station platform, construction tape and thick yellow wiring has been brought in to assist in the station refurb. Power tools near the water tower lie in wait.
The Fantasyland Station itself is in fantastic condition, and save for a tiny sign signifying its current closure, it looks just as fresh and bright as it did when the train was running!
Trains
What’s happening with the trains themselves, though?
Well, before the Train Station refurbishment began, a train was parked in the station and guests were encouraged to take a close look at the gorgeous design features and ask a Cast Member questions about the complex WDW Railroad System!
Ever since the wrapping went up on the station, the trains have been moved to a backstage maintenance facility for paint upgrades and mechanical tweaks.
Engineering Cast Members are busy making sure the train cars and their engines are ready to transport guests around Magic Kingdom as soon as the track and station refurbishments are finished- and I can’t wait! Are you excited to ride the train again? Leave me a comment and let me know!
