How EPCOT’S New Entrance Music Launched the Park Into the Future
As I walked into Epcot this week, I noticed something…different. Spaceship Earth was shining in the afternoon sunlight, the new fountain glistened beneath the blue sky, but…something was off. Although the newly-refurbished Park entrance looked as gorgeous and perfect as ever, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something drastic had changed overnight.
Epcot’s Entrance Music
Epcot’s entrance music has always been there to prepare you for the Park day ahead of you. Filled with etherial orchestral scores, uplifting instrumentals from the Park’s past attractions, and even exciting songs from current attractions, the Epcot entrance music had always evoked a sense of awe and discovery that previewed what was waiting for you inside.
You see, the Epcot entrance music subconsciously sets the expectations of guests as they pass through the gates. The Epcot of old focused on imagination, discovery- and more recently- tugging at the nostalgic heartstrings of guests who have been visiting for decades. Ant the entrance music beautifully reflected all of that.
The new entrance music I heard the other day is a complete departure from the nostalgic, sweeping instrumentals we are used to hearing, signaling that the Park has officially moved on to fully embody the new direction Epcot is heading.
Action and Adventure Await!
The new music loop at Epcot made me feel emotions I’m not used to feeling at Epcot. I felt…excited! As soon as I heard the upbeat, pulsing, rollicking instrumentation that’s heavily featured in the new loop, I felt energized and knew there was a big adventure waiting for me inside.
And that feeling right there, fellow readers, makes all the difference in the world.
Epcot is transitioning from the Park of discovery to a Park full of action-packed stories for you to live out, and I think the new entrance loop does a fantastic job of setting the mood!
With the addition of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, and the brand-new feel of Future World, Epcot’s landscape is undeniably changing. The Park is clearly moving in the direction of bigger attractions, more exciting storylines, and ultimately towards a Park that is completely refreshed and rebranded.
I’m a classic Disney fan through and through and will always, ALWAYS have a place for the nostalgic side of Walt Disney World in my heart. But there is also a time and place for change and advancement, and it’s undeniable that Epcot had certainly reached that point many years before this refurbishment was announced.
I think this new entrance music loop signifies the Park’s official launch into the future- and I couldn’t be more excited to see what that future has to hold! What do you think about the entrance music loop change? Are you looking forward to what’s to come, or do you wish the nostalgic Epcot was here to stay? Leave me a comment and let me know!
