House Created By Sleeping Beauty Castle Designer NOW On the Market
I don’t know who needs to hear this but “THIS IS MY DREAM HOUSE!” Now that I’ve screamed it to the cosmos let’s talk about what makes this Hollywood Hills home which has recently been placed on the market so gosh darn special!
The four bedroom, three-bathroom home was actually build back in 1926 by Richard E. Hill who was the architect of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland in Anaheim, California! This stunning property can be yours for $2.5 million.
Registered as a historic home, the NY Post tells us that it features a castle-style turret, stained glass windows and comes complete with 1926 blueprints of the 2,626 square-foot house. The cottage last went on the market back in 2006 where it sold for $1.57 million.
Among the key features of this property are hardwood floors in the living room along with 26-foot exposed wooden beams. As you can see below there is also a red-and-yellow stained glass window that sits directly above a gray fireplace.
At the center of the room is a wrought-iron chandelier and arch glassed doors that open out to a balcony overlooking a deck with heated pool!
The dining room features medieval-style peaked doorways and also features a stained-glass window, exposed ceiling beams and French doors onto a Juliet balcony.
The kitchen has been updated with modern appliances.
A winding staircase leads up to the Master Bedroom which has a stained glass window, exposed brick wall and three closets. Double French Doors open to a balcony that overlooks the pool area.
The property sits on 1/10th of an acre and also boasts a separate studio, guest house, and a two car garage. On the grounds you’ll also find 5 citrus trees, a fountain, slate patio and a fire pit.
According to the post, Hill, the designer worked not only on Sleeping Beauty castle but also on Hollywood movie sets.
His inspiration came from his time in France and Germany while in World War 1. He would sketch many of the sights he saw. This is according to his grandson, Steven Edward Hill.
According to reports, Hill met Disney while he was in the Army and they formed a friendship over their artistic interests and talents. After the service, Hill went to art school and would go on to advising on the castle and medieval architecture for Disney including for projects that included Snow White and Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia and Sleeping Beauty!
