Support Beam Enhancements in Tomorrowland
If you saw our MIckeyBlog livestream from Magic Kingdom yesterday, you may have caught a little update to Tomorrowland. The People Mover support beams outside of Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor have been repainted and streamlined, with white posts and large white “box” bases.
Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor is currently closed and being used for overflow queue for the neighboring Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
Fin Removal
As a reminder, here is what these supports previously looked like.

The large metal “fins” are gone from above the beams and the area feels much more light and open now. We like this change!
Large white boxes cover the base of the support beams. Based on their somewhat obtrusive nature and bland appearance, we assume that these boxes are a temporary solution while further enhancements occur.
Disney has been revamping Tomorrowland since before Covid-19 closed the park last March. There’s some big overall plans – lookin’ at you Tron Lightcycle Run – but many of the refurbishments are small changes aimed at big impact. We’ve already seen a new Tomorrowland entrance sign and a new paint scheme on the “space rocks” at the land’s entrance.
The People Mover support posts along the ride’s breezeway were also refinished with a sleeker concrete facade just before the park closed in March. More “futuristic” metal fins were removed there as well. Removing these space-style elements, most of which Disney added in the early 90s, was included in Disney’s plan to reimagine Tomorrowland.
