Boba Fett Speaks: Temuera Morrison on Being Back
There’s another character in familiar armor in The Mandalorian. Temuera Morrison is Boba Fett.
Sometimes, there is SO MUCH joy in writing and blogging about Star Wars.
So, when I saw Temuera Morrison in The Mandalorian, Season 2 premiere I was certain some happiness was coming.
And, I was right!
More Morisson, More Fett
Going back to 1983 it never sat well; Boba Fett flying screaming into the Sarlacc on Tatooine.
When I was a boy, there was a Marvel Comics Star Wars issue where the Pit of Carkoon gave up its prey and saw Boba fly out of the beast with a mighty burp. And if I remember correctly, he ended up right back in the maw later in the comic.
And I sure as heck thought the demise of Jango Fett came too quickly at the hands of Mace Windu. Again, it just felt wrong; a waste of a really interesting character.
But none of that matters now. As the guy who played Jango Fett, and whose visage and voice was the inspiration for each of the clones in the Star Wars galaxy, is now playing the father’s son – Boba.
Boba Fett is Back
Sorry to bury the lede, but Dan Brooks has a stellar interview with The Mandalorian’s latest star. Temuera Morrison is back. And the galaxy far, far away feels all the better for it.
“There were moments when I put the armor on and I was looking at [executive producers] Dave [Filoni] and Jon [Favreau], and the expression on their faces just said it all,” Morrison told StarWars.com’s Brooks.
It felt good. It felt right… [And] it felt like, ‘Yes, I should be wearing this costume.’ And it gave me this sense of, ‘I’m back.’”
Boba Fett certainly is back. And the original man in “the Mandalorian armor” just garnered a lot more new fans.
Grateful for Star Wars, George Lucas
However, Morrison remains thankful he was recruited to join Star Wars back in the day; thankful he’s been able to return.
“I count my blessings and I’m very grateful. Grateful to George, in fact, for giving me Jango Fett. And that’s how this whole thing has come about,” he explained to StarWars.com. “Just very grateful for being involved in this wonderful production.”
