We’re going to start with an absolute classic! One of the famous holiday Rankin-Bass films, this 1970 special narrated by Fred Astaire tells the timeless story of Kris Kringle (Mickey Rooney) who from a very young age has a desire to do good. This is stop-motion animation at its finest. You’ll find out how Santa Claus came to be as well as several other Christmas traditions. Rounding out the cast is Keenan Wynn as Winter; Paul Frees as Burgermeister Meisterburger, Grimsby, the soldiers, and the townsmen; Joan Gardner as Tanta Kringle; Robie Lester as Jessica and Andrea Sacino; and Dina Lynn, Gary White, and Greg Thomas as the children.
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day—Friday, November 27, on Disney+
We’ve got an exciting new film coming to the Disney+ library. This hilarious and heartwarming 2014 comedy based on the beloved children’s book tells the story of 11-year-old Alexander Cooper (Ed Oxenbould) and his disastrous day that begins with him getting gum stuck in his hair and it goes downhill from there. Faced with one calamity after another, Alexander tells his family about his misadventures but doesn’t find much sympathy. This makes Alexander wonder if bad things only happen to him. However when his mother (Jennifer Garner), father (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette), and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves making it through their own calamitous days he realizes that it happens to everyone!
Black Beauty—Friday, November 27, on Disney+
You won’t want to miss this timeless reimagining of Anna Sewell’s classic novel which follows a magnificent black stallion (voiced by Kate Winslet) and her bond with a teenage girl. Black Beauty’s world is turned upside down when her and her family are taken away from their home. Eventually a trainer named John Manly (Iain Glen) sees something in Beauty and decides to train her. After his recently orphaned niece, Jo Green (Mackenzie Foy) comes to live with him, girl and horse forge a profound connection that allows them both to heal!
Ferdinand—Friday, November 27, at 3:30 p.m. ET on FX
This loveable 2017 animated film tells the story of Ferdinand (John cena) a young bull with a big heart. After he is mistaken for a dangerous beast and removed from his comfortable home on a Spanish farm, he bands together with other misfit animals including a wisecracking goat (voice of Kate McKinnon) and three hedgehogs (voices of Daveed Diggs, Gabriela Iglesias, and Gina Rodriguez)—for an epic adventure.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms—Saturday, November 28, at 11:55 p.m. ET on Freeform
You won’t want to miss the network premiere of this story made famous by the ballet. Clara Stahlbaum (Foy) is searching for a key to unlock a box that holds a gift from her godfather, Drosselmeyer (Morgan Freeman). During her search she disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world where she meets a soldier Captain Phillip Hoffman (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a group of mice, and the regents who preside over three realms: The Sugar Plum Fairy (Keira Knightley), regent of the Land of Sweets; Hawthorne (Eugenio Derbez), regent of the Land of Flowers; and Shiver (Richard E. Grant), regent of the Land of Snowflakes.
However, things get tense when Clara and Phillip must sneak into a fourth realm and retrieve the key without getting caught by the nefarious Mother Ginger (Hellen Mirren.) Will they manage to resort peace to this unstable land?
