Spaceship Earth To Become a Kaleidoscope of Colors As Part of Epcot Renovation
It’s full steam ahead when it comes to awesome projects heading to EPCOT in 2020 and beyond! As part of D23’s Fantastic World’s virtual convention this week, Disney fans were treated to a special panel discussion about the magical transformation happening to this Walt Disney World theme park and boy is it going to be amazing!
One of the key takeaways from this hour long chat centers around the transformation that will happen to the World Celebration area of the park. This is the area of what is now Future World and is home to Spaceship Earth. As Imagineer Zach Riddley told us, the parks entrance is already in the process of being reimagined in a way that will enhance its vibrancy and identity. This can be seen in the work recently carried out at the ticket booths at the main entrance
This new emphasis on color will be found throughout EPCOT and will be used to represent the different pavilions in the park along with new iconography and the return of EPCOT’s official original font!
There’s also BIG plans for the area in front of Spaceship Earth. The gleaming new pylons that have been installed are just the start of work that will be carried out that includes a fountain that will shine and shimmer in beautiful colorful hues. As you can see in the image at the top of this article, that will also be extended to the geosphere of Spaceship Earth.
Other updates coming to the World Celebration neighborhood of the park includes:
- New pathways and sweeping green spaces.
- Dreamers Point will provide a new view of the World Showcase.
- A statue will also be erected that features Walt Disney and celebrates his legacy.
- Surrounding this enchanted garden will also be new retail and dining locations.
- There will also be a newly reimagined festival area that will be home to changing events throughout the year.
Work on the fountain is expected to be completed by the end of this year! No word yet on dates for the other exciting elements. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog and we promise to keep you posted!
