Christmas Lights are Twinkling at Hollywood Studios
At night, the iconic Hollywood Studios Christmas tree in front of the Hollywood and Vine restaurant is twinkling with holiday lights. Christmas time has come to Hollywood Studios. MickeyBlog reported last week that the holiday stars appeared on the light posts down Sunset Boulevard, but tonight there were many more lights sparkling across Hollywood Studios.
The Tree
The Hollywood Studios Christmas Tree is 65 feet tall with over 5500 twinkling lights. It has has over 300 ornaments, over 300 candles and the star on the top of the tree is over 40 feet tall. It is impressive in the daylight and even more impressive at night.
Christmas at Hollywood studios meant The Osbourne Family Lights for years. When the show was retired, Jingle Bell Bam! took its place. Fireworks and projections shows will not happen this year due to the reduced entertainment schedule because of COVID, but Hollywood Studios will still glow at night.
Sunset Blvd
Sunset Blvd is the street leading down to the Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios. This street is lined with shops and retail stores. It is also home to Aerosmith’s Rock n’ Roller Coaster. It is now decorated in holiday splendor with red and silver stars.
And Christmas trees on the lamp-posts.

Gertie
Gertie is the recreation of a 1913 cartoon. Walt Disney himself was inspired by Gertie, the trained dinosaur so when Hollywood Studios (then MGM) opened in May of 1989 Gertie was there. As an ice cream shop. She gets to celebrate the holidays too with a very cute Santa hat and her very own light-up ornament.
Gertie lives on Echo Lake which is also decorated with Christmas ornaments floating in the water.
