Wilderness Explorers Program Puts Safety First at Animal Kingdom
The Wilderness must be explored…safely! Wilderness Explorers is a huge part of my little cousins’ Animal Kingdom days when they visit WDW, and i’m so thrilled it’s back. Brimming with big- and sometimes scary- attractions, Animal Kingdom is not the most kid-friendly of all the Parks. Wilderness Explorers is just the remedy for any little one not wanting to come face-to-face with a giant Yeti!
I bring great news from the wilderness! Little ones gearing up for a long day of trekking through the Asian jungles and African savannas can participate in the Wilderness Explorers once again! I checked out all the fun and safe protocols taking place now throughout the Animal Kingdom, so let’s go!
Wilderness Explorers
The Wilderness Explorers encourages a fun and educational scavenger hunt throughout Animal Kingdom. The ultimate goal is to visit every kiosk throughout the Park to collect badges and become a full-fledged Wilderness Explorer!
The fun certainly isn’t all reserved for the kiddos though, because I had a blast scavenging around Animal Kingdom in search of the tables!
Of course safety is Disney’s top priority nowadays. Social distance markers and hand sanitizer dispensers have been placed at each and every Wilderness Explorers stop throughout the Park!
I learned so much on my trip across Animal Kingdom, like how Ham Radio frequencies are still used- and provide great benefit to farmers and African wildlife protectors- in 2020!
I even learned that a large variety of bird species build completely enclosed nests to house their precious eggs. I’d feel very safe and protected from the outside elements in this neat little nest!
TIP: Don’t be intimidated by the number of badges you have to collect, because you can split up the Wilderness Explorers badge collecting across multiple days- or even multiple vacations! Once you start, you can complete the badge collecting at your own pace!
Stops for Wilderness Explorers can be found in very unlikely places, so keep your eyes peeled when you’re visiting the gorillas or traveling back in time to prehistory! I found this awesome Cast Member’s Wilderness Explorers table in Dinoland USA!
Don’t forget, the Wilderness MUST be explored! You’ll find a map, some fun facts, and a handy dandy booklet to keep all those hard-earned badges safe when you begin the program. The best part? It’s free!
I want to know if you’ve ever participated in the Wilderness Explorers program! If so, what was your favorite badge to collect? Leave me a comment and let me know!
