Bette Midler Is Looking Forward To ‘Hocus Pocus’ Sequel
More Sanderson sisters? – Yes! Please. According to a recent piece in People, Bette Midler discussed returning to the role of Winifred Sanderson in an interview with Entertainment tonight! Midler (74) said that she would definitely be up for reprising her role in the following film saying “I can’t wait to fly!”
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog over the last few months we’ve been keeping you updated on a possible sequel to the 1993 film Hocus Pocus which over the last two decades has developed a massive cult following. The film also stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as a trio of witches who after being accidentally resurrected on Halloween have set out to suck the life out of a town to undo the curse that banished them 300 years ago.
Fans are hoping that all three Sanderson Sisters will be on hand to reprise their roles. Though this hasn’t been confirmed by the studio, Midler has said that she is currently “talking logistics.”
However, much around the film remains a mystery including whether it will be a sequel or a reboot and whether it will head to cinemas or go straight to Disney+
The film, was a box office failure when it first released but has since become a firm Halloween favorite. Case in point, Freeform is airing the film a whopping 14 times during their “31 Nights of Halloween.” broadcasts this month.
According to the piece in People, last year when Midler was first asked about the possibility of another film she said, “Oh my goodness me. Oh, I hope they get to me before I’m a corpse.” She added, “We wanna fly again, hope Disney+ is a big success and I hope we get to do it, because [Winifred] is of course one of my favorite characters … I can’t wait to read the script. We’re gonna see what happens.”
In the meantime, fans can get excited over the fact that the three sisters are set to reunite for a Hulaween fundraising gala that Midler is holding at the end of this month! The actresses annual costume gala will take place virtually this year and her and her two co stars will reportedly bring the Halloween magic. The event is called “In Search of the Sanderson Sisters: A Hocus Pocus Halloween Takeover.”
The event will take place on October 30th to raise funds for the New York Restoration Project which will raise funds for environmental and social justice. The group was founded by Midler back in 1995.
As HUGE fans of Hocus Pocus, this is a story that we here at MickeyBlog will be following closely. Readers are encouraged to keep following along with us for further news and updates!
