What’s Up With The Mandalorian Season 2?
Nothing! Two Trusted Sources Say Season 2 Is Great….
Yes, we’ve heard the story — something is wrong with The Mandalorian — as summarized by WeGotThisCovered.com:
Star Wars fans have been waiting patiently – and not so patiently – for the first trailer for The Mandalorian season 2 for a while now. Disney previously confirmed that the much-anticipated sophomore run of the hit show will premiere as intended this October, with reports pointing to the trailer dropping in mid-August. However, there’s been radio silence on this front for the past few weeks, suggesting something’s amiss behind the scenes.
Insider Grace Randolph has now revealed the reason, as she’s claiming that the studio “didn’t like” the season 2 trailer and so has delayed it to get it re-edited. That’s a fairly minor issue on its own, but according to Randolph, it’s indicative of much bigger problems Disney has with the whole season.
Pump The Brakes
Okay, so here’s where I land on this. The same source cited by WGTC said Kathleen Kennedy was going to be fired (somewhere in the neighborhood of two years ago).
Nope.
And, trusted friends are trusted friends and I trust the two guys below:
For what it’s worth, our most reliable sources say that Mando S2 is incredible and that LFL is very happy with it. The trailer has been re-edited to include that new scene that we talked about last week. pic.twitter.com/ZY1aQfmNsB

I typically don’t scoop Star Wars projects, but I am blessed to know people involved with THE MANDALORIAN, and this simply isn’t true. pic.twitter.com/b6h8jh0FwB

OH, and just in case you missed it. Disney actually left money on the table by not revealing “The Child” any earlier than needed. Remember? Nobody could find “Baby Yoda” toys?
Anyway, and also, here’s showrunner Jon Favreau talking about keeping so many details close to the vest:
I think that part of what people really value is to be surprised and delighted, and I think that’s becoming all too rare. It’s very difficult to keep secrets about projects you’re working on. By holding back on that one product, we knew that we may have had the disadvantage of not having toys available day and date, but what we got in exchange was an excitement surrounding the character, because everybody felt like they discovered him together. That emulated more what my experience growing up was like.
Jon Favreau is a pretty preeminent guy; a pretty powerful creative in Hollywood. So what if he is trying to keep all the secrets of The Mandalorian close to the vest? It’s a little over a month to the premiere of Season 2; a season that will be blockbuster without ANY marketing. Why wouldn’t he just keep on keeping things quiet?
Makes you think.
