George Lucas Enjoys The Mandalorian
George Lucas, The Maker, Was Complimentary Of The Mandalorian….
The Mandalorian, nominated for a slew of awards at the 2020 Emmys, remains on a lot of minds.
However, according to a post by The Hollywood Reporter’s Aaron Crouch, one person was ahead of the curve on the show’s success and the explosion of love for “Baby Yoda.”
Werner Called It; Lucas Confirmed It

Herzog
“The first person who really clocked that it was going to be bigger than I realized was [castmember] Werner Herzog,” said Dave Filoni via the Q & A. “We were so focused on making it and bringing it to life, but Werner was like, ‘This is really magical.'”
Filoni added: “I don’t think anything can prepare you for the reaction to be so all-encompassing. It seemed like everyone just fell in love with this little guy that we had known from the shoot.”
The Maker: Lucas Was Complimentary

But it wasn’t just the “little guy” and it wasn’t just “everyone.”
One pretty important person became a fan, as well. Filoni is close with George Lucas — the creator of Star Wars — and reported that “The Maker” holds The Mandalorian in high esteem.

“He’s been very complimentary,” said Filoni to The Hollywood Reporter. “I think he’s enjoyed the show, and he said once [that] now he gets to watch it as a fan and watch it as a viewer.
“My job is to bring that knowledge forward and pass on what I’ve learned from him in every discipline to Jon and to the creative departments.”
Building The Mandalorian

Favreau, Filoni and the directors of Season One
And it seems as if both Filoni and his fellow Executive Producer Jon Favreau learned from the master.
“You want to be able to build,” said Favreau of holding details back about The Mandalorian. “And you want word-of-mouth to spread.
“You want people to tune in and know that something is going to happen that they are going to want to talk about.”
Looking Forward To Thursday

And, speaking of something happening that fans are going to want to talk about:
