Construction Update: The Cove at the Swan and Dolphin
In case you haven’t heard, the Swan and Dolphin resort area near EPCOT at Walt Disney World is expanding! Construction is currently underway on a new tower that will be called “The Cove.” Our dedicated MickeyBlogger was in the area this weekend and managed to snap some photos of how this project is coming along.
The Cove was originally expected to be completed by the Fall of 2020. However, delays should be expected due to the COVID-19 shutdown earlier this year.
Though there haven’t been too many details released regarding the tower, you can see from the images that it is situated next to Swan Resort. If you’re familiar with the Swan and Dolphin Resort area, it is in the location where the tennis courts used to be.
Though the project looks well underway, there is still a ways to go. Once completed, the tower will stand 14 stories tall.
The Cove will add over 20,000 square feet of meeting space to the property. We’re also told that some will be on the top floor of the tower and will offer sweeping views of nearby Hollywood Studios and Epcot.
The building will also feature 198 guest rooms and an additional 151 suites.
The property will also include a nearly 17,000 square foot elevated outdoor deck area with a swimming pool and fire pit.
There will also be a 90 seat restaurant area as well as a 50-seat lounge.
Other amenities at the property includes a business center, health club, a craft cocktail lobby bar, and a grab-and-go market.
It should be noted that these properties are not owned by Disney. They are owned by Marriott and have proven to be very popular with business travelers.
Guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin do still get disney perks like Extra Magic Hours, Disney transportation to and from the parks, 60 day FastPass window (when available), package delivery and an on-site ticket desk.
However, guests do not get access to Magical Express, complimentary Magic Bands or the ability to make dining reservations 180 days out all at once. (Guests at these resorts must make reservations one day at a time.)
Its onward and upwards for the Swan and Dolphin. The property recently renovated the existing resort rooms, meeting rooms and lobby areas.
The last we heard the Swan and Dolphin would begin taking reservations for The Cove starting next March (2021.)
This is a story that we’ll continue to follow closely here at MickeyBlog. Be sure to keep checking back in with us for further updates!
