Hawaii To Keep Quarantine In Place Until At Least October 1st
If you have a current reservation or are considering a visit to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa then we’ve got some news for you. According to a report from CNN today, Hawaii has opted to continue to keep the quarantine in place until at least October 1st. This is due to the COVID-19 surge all summer and will mean tourists will not be able to visit the country during this time.
Back in July, it appeared as if the Governor of Hawaii, David Ige was preparing the state to relax restrictions for tourists. At that point, the state implemented a 14-day quarantine for all visitors and residents. Under Hawaii’s Pre-Testing Program, guests could revisit the state if they had proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours in advance of travel.
However, with cases across the united states surging after the announcement, Hawaii has delayed the implementation of the program on multiple occasions. It was originally expected to go into effect on August 1st, then September 1st and now October 1st. Those planning on travelling to Hawaii should note that this could be shifted again, so it’s worth paying close attention to.
During a press conference held this week the Governor said, “I have been working with mayors of all the counties to identify ways we can bring travelers back more quickly,” including “geo-fencing” at hotels — where the properties would take responsibility for quarantining arriving guests, as well as “travel bubbles” with trans-Pacific countries such as Japan and Australia. There is no specific plan in place, however, to implement either.
It should also be noted that inter-island travel is also restricted. Those traveling to Maui, Kauai and Hawaii island are subject to a two week quarantine.
So what does this mean for visitors to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa?
At the moment the resort is closed until further notice and Disney has not yet released a reopening timeline for the property. As a note of caution they are also advising those planning a visit that once reopen, certain experiences, restaurants and other offerings may remain closed.
