Surprise Mom With This Delightful Minnie Mouse Pressed Flowers Card
We’ve got a very special way to show mom that you care this Mother’s Day made with items from the back garden! The team at Disney Family just shared this awesome DIY project and we couldn’t wait to pass it on to our MickeyBlog readers.
So go flower picking and follow the steps to make your own Minnie Mouse pressed flower greeting card just in time for Mother’s Day (May 10th!)
Here’s What You’ll Need
- Small flowers and leaves
- Parchment paper (mom should have this in her kitchen)
- 2 large books
- Scissors
- White cardstock
- Small paintbrush
- Decoupage glue
Now Follow These Instructions:
Step 1: Cut the buds and blooms from the flowers you’ve gathered, getting rid of the stems!
Step 2: Place your beautiful blooms face down onto parchment paper. Fold the parchment paper and crease over the flowers.
Step 3: Place the parchment-encased flowers inside of a large book (the heavier the better). Then carefully close it. Be sure not to scrunch up the flowers!
Step 4: Place another heavy book on top to help press the flowers really well.
Step 5: Time to wait. Leave the flowers in the book for at least 4-5 days.
Step 6: Cut the cardstock to your preferred size, and fold in half to create a card.
Step 7: After 4-5 days, remove the flowers from the book and arrange them into a Minnie shape on the front of the card.
Step 8: One by one, add a small dab of decoupage glue onto the back of each flower and press it onto the card.
Step 9: Once all of the flowers have been glued down, apply a smooth coat of decoupage glue on top of the flowers to seal them in place.
Step 10: Finally, add 2 larger petals or flowers to create Minnie’s bow. Add a dab of decoupage glue to the bottom of each petal, and then apply the final coat to seal.
Step 11: Let dry completely and then write your special message inside for mom!
