VIDEO: Ride Rise Of The Resistance With MickeyBlog
It is gray and spitting here in the Northeast. And while I was contemplating an end of summer [yes, i said it] chores list, Greg and Elyssa kept my anxiety in check. Especially because MickeyBlog took a trip to Batuu via “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.”
And, in the process, they got a very early boarding pass for “Rise of the Resistance.”
Now, I’ve been on the ride once. And I have really, really wanted to try it again since I have done a fair amount of reading about the theming of the land (and its “history”). And there’s been plenty of mentions of Black Spire in many corners of canon, I have some homework for you before you head to the outpost.
The below books can be found in the parks and your local bookstore and on Amazon (and I listened to most on Audible).
Recommendations for reading: Galaxy’s Edge
- The Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Marvel Comic
Collected stories along a common arc, which give hints about the background of Batuu. - Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Black Spire
One of the residents of Batuu is Vi Moradi. And you may run into her when you visit. Read her story.
- Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – A Crash of Fate
This book reminds me of one of my favorites in canon – Lost Stars. However, this book has elements of “rom-com” and gives a lot of background on the community in and around Black Spire Outpost.
- Star Wars: Force Collector
Insight into Doc Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.
And, finally, two guidebooks:
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – A Traveler’s Guide to Batuu
The type of guidebook you might fight in the bookstore for Boston, London, or Tokyo – but for Batuu.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook
Did you ever want to whip up some Wroshyr Tree Cake? This is the book for you.
Meanwhile, I will tell you that Greg and Elyssa’s video from this morning is one of the calmest, best looking, and detailed walk and ride throughs I’ve seen about the attraction.

Mickey Blog did a nice job of walking around to see almost all of “Star Wars Land.” Enjoy!
