EPCOT Reopens with New Soarin’ Safety Measures
It’s been one week since EPCOT began it’s phased reopening at the Walt Disney World Resort. As we have taken time to visit the parks we have been able to see all the recent changes including the new Soarin’ safety measures.
The first thing we noticed is that the queue has been extended into the waiting area. As you can see in the pictures below, certain seats have been identified as “unusable” to enforce social distancing.
The entire queue has signage on the floor indicating 6-foot distances to help separate parties. This is something we have noticed at most attractions throughout the parks at Walt Disney World Resort.
As with other attractions, the FastPass lane remains closed at this time and all guests utilize the stand-by queue.
Between the social distancing and limited park capacity, the waits are not proving to be very long- which has been wonderful! This is a definite perk of visiting the parks at this time.
As we continued to make our way through the queue we spotted a cast member who was cleaning and disinfecting high traffic “touchpoints” such as the handrail.
Cast members who have been cleaning areas have been seen wearing masks and gloves.
Next, we noticed the new plexiglass barriers between lines. This is something we have seen in other queues such as Flight of Passage and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
Disney has strategically placed these barriers to offer guests an additional layer of protection while waiting in parallel lines and unable to socially distance.
Finally, once you are ready to board your “flight”, Disney has spaced out seating to continue promoting social distancing.
Certain seats onboard the attraction have been blocked off with a booster seat to keep travel parties separated.
What do you think of the new Soarin’ safety measures? Have you visited the parks since they’ve reopened or do you plan to soon? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below or on our Facebook page.
