It’s a Parent Trap Reunion!
Yesterday we here at MickeyBlog reported that Katie Couric was getting the cast of Disney’s 1998 film Parent Trap together for a reunion including stars Lindsay Lohan and Dennis Quaid. The reunion ran this morning at 9 am and we have a first look for all of our MickeyBlog readers! Its hard to believe that its been 22 years since the film (a remake of the 1960’s film) first warmed its way into our hearts!
As you can see below, the film also includes director Nancy Meyers and cowriter Charles Shyer. Let’s take a look!
As you can see from the video above, Lindsay Lohan was reminiscing about her breakout role and was happily quoting the driving scene in which Annie first bonds with her dad. Lohan also shared fond memories of how making the movie at the age of 11 helped her deal with family issues that were going on at home. Lohan said during the reunion, “My parents were kind of separating at the time when this was all going on, and it made it a lot easier for me to play these characters that were figuring it out.”
The reunion debuted on Couric’s Instagram and the event was organized to raise money for World Central Kitchen – a charity run by Chef Jose Andres (who also has a restaurant at Disney Springs.) Also show up during the chat were Simon Kunz who played the butler in the film, Lisa Ann Walter who played the nanny in the film and Elaine Hendrix who played Dennis Quaid’s cruel fiance Meredith.) Walter and Hendrix even revealed that they have remained close friends since the film and even attend awards shows together!
The cast also took a moment to pay tribute to Natasha Richardson who played Lohan’s mom in the film. Richardson dies in 2009 of a head injury from a skiing accident. “Natasha had such an elegance and grace, and she was so maternal to me,” Lohan recalled. Quaid concurred: “[Richardson was] so giving and so glad to be there, and transmitted that joy of being able to do what we do.”
The Parent Trap is just one a few socially distanced reunions that have taken place since the world has been in quarantine. Other’s that we’ve covered here include The Goonies and High School Musical. We’re also sure it won’t be the last!
