Property Tax Appraiser Asks Courts To Reconsider Verdict After Groundbreaking Ruling For Disney
Earlier this month we here at MickeyBlog shared information with you regarding a groundbreaking ruling in Disney’s favor after a lengthy lawsuit against Property Appraiser Rick Singh. The court found that Singh was using an outdated way of appraising Disney World property more specifical the Yacht and Beach Club Resort which say Disney experience a significant increase in property taxes.
However, days after the verdict, Appraiser Rick Singh is firing back and is asking an appellate court to reconsider the ruling.

When the ruling was made it sent shockwaves through the tourism trade as it could lead to other area hotels filing similar lawsuits to recoup on excess property taxes being paid.
Singh’s office reached out the Fifth District Court of Appeal today requesting another hearing in a legal battle that has already been years in the making. This comes after the verdict that Singh’s office improperly inflated the value of Disney properties which resulted in a tax assessment nearly doubling in 2015 resulting in a tax bill of more than $4 million.
In it’s ruling the court declared the method used by Singh’s office to appraise the Disney hotel as illegal under Florida Law. In addition, Disney is contesting the appraisals of more than 10 other hotels at Walt Disney World.
It should be clear that Singh is not asking Disney to overturn case but rather reach a decision on whether the appraisal method known as the “Rushmore” is illegal for all hotels.
