Actor Josh Gad Discusses the Possibility of a Frozen III
You’ll know Josh Gad as the voice of the loveable snowman Olaf in Frozen and Frozen II as from the incredible “At Home With Olaf” shorts that have been keeping us so thoroughly entertained while in quarantine. In an interview with PopCulture.com, Josh Gad talked about the future of Olaf and the Frozen franchise.
When asked at the start of the sequel about the possibility of a third Frozen film Gad said, “Wouldn’t that be a great, non-sequitur just amazing announcement to make.” However, he didn’t seem quite ready to make that announcement, Gad added, “I don’t know. I mean, here’s the deal. Frozen II wasn’t Frozen II until there was a reason to exist. And similarly, I don’t know if and when there will be a Frozen III. That’s way above my pay grade, but what I can tell you is this: There was an opportunity to take these characters and bring again a sense of hope and inspiration. And it’s why the team at Disney and I teamed up on the past couple of weeks to do At Home with Olaf […] And so the Frozen saga continues, even if it’s not necessarily in the form of a third movie. But we’ll see! If there’s always a story worth telling, I’m sure that Jennifer Lee and the incredible team over at Disney animation will tell that story one day.”
If you’ve yet to see the “At Home With Olaf Shorts” on Disney’s YouTube channel then you don’t know what you’re missing. Here’s one of our favorites:
However, when asked if he would be interested in doing an Olaf spinoff Gad said “Probably not” and here is his reasoning, “I feel like Olaf really is a part of the fabric of the actual stories that include Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, etc. And to me, separating him from that group doesn’t necessarily feel warranted and doesn’t necessarily feel earned.”
In addition to his time as Olaf, Gad has also been busy on other projects. He has a starring role in Artemis Fowl which is slated for a Disney+ release this Summer. He also has a fantastic YouTube show called Reunited Apart where he reunites cast members from some of his favorite films. He has kept us excited during our time at home with reunions feature the original cast of Goonies as well as Splash!
In a recent Lord of the Rings version of the show, he also announced that he has partnered up with Cheerios to donated to the “No Kid Hungry” program which is a national campaign focused on ending hunger in America.
