Important Facts To Remember Before Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 7 Kicks Off
Marvel fans we are mere days away from the new season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and if you are like me, the excitement levels have reached fever pitch! With the premiere happening on May 27th, CinemaBlend acknowledges that we’ve all been through a lot since we last joined the gang and felt like a re-cap might be in order!
We concur, so we are going to share some of their insights with you below. As with posts of this nature, there may be some spoilers so be aware before you read one.
Time Travel!?
Yup. Let’s just get the big one out of the way first. During last season’s finale, Agents Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons along with Chronicom ally Enoch set a plan in motion to prevent Chronicoms from taking over the planet. Their solution? upgrade Zephyr One’s Jumpdrive with time travel tech, head back to the 1930s and learn the secrets of the Chronicoms.
The action will undoubtedly take place in the 30’s but how long they stay there remains to be seen. However, we think we can probably expect is time travel playing a central role as the Chromicom Hunters seem to be making a move to travel to different times to whip out the organization. With the time travel storyline, the possibilities are endless.
Is Agent Coulson An LMD?
An LMD is Marvel speak for Live Model Decoy and in this season, this bit of tech may hit a little close to home. If you remember Enoch’s plans to destroy the Chronicoms then you know that its integral that the team has a history export who can guide them through the new mission. Enoch suggested created and LMD of Agent Coulson using the Chronicom tech. Both Simmons and director MacKenzie were a bit iffy on this strategy. However, they went along with it in the end and Daisy activated the droid.
With an LMD Coulson, the show can end with one of its most loved characters back in the game. He will presumably retain the memories of his counterpart and will definitely ensure some tense moments as the agents (especially Daisy) grapple with their memories of the original Coulson.

What About May?
Okay. So what we do know is that May was stabbed by Coulson lookalike Sarge at the end of Season 6. However, we also know that she survived and prevented things with Izel’s kind from going further. She even managed to return from the portal and use Sarge’s dagger to take down Izel. She was near death when we saw her last but remember, she’s called “The Cavalry” for a reason.
What About Fitzsimmons?
Next up is our favorite Marvel couple. Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons found themselves separated at the end of last season. Fitz, if you’ll remember died in Season 5. Jemma spent the early part of Season 6 searching for him. They were placed inside each other’s minds and forced to relive memories and then there’s Enoch’s plan which if followed requires them to be apart. So though the season may part with these two separated, we’re holding out hope that it won’t stay that way for long. We’re holding out for them to be reunited before the season’s end.
Will The Chronicoms End S.H.I.E.L.D?
The Chronicoms are expected to take center stage in Season 7. Not that Malachi’s home has been destroyed, he sets his sights on Earth as his ne planet. To further that goal he killed his commander (Atarah), took charge of the Chronicoms and even managed to get invaluable information about S.H.I.E.L.D that Nick Fury was keeping. The seventh S.H.I.E.L.D is expected to center around Malachi’s attempts to wipe out the organization.
Will S.H.I.E.L.D Save HYDRA?
Yup. Hydra again. As you can see from the trailer above not only are they fighting for the preservation of S.H.I.E.L.D but it also looks like they will have to do the same for HYDRA as well.
As CinemaBlend argues, S.H.I.E.L.D and HYDRA are “two sides of the same coin.” They are linked due to the fact that S.H.I.E.L.D itself was founded by HYDRA loyalists. Whether it’s bringing HYDRA members into S.H.I.E.L.D or whether there’s a deeper connection between the two organizations that we don’t know about yet, we can expect HYDRA to heavily factor into Season 7.
Look Who’s Coming Back!
With Season 7 you can also expect the return of some much-loved actors return including Patton Oswalt, Patrick Wartbutron and Enver Gjokaj (Daniel Sousa.) Cinema Blend advises us to expect other surprises, possibly the return of J. August Richard’s Mike Peterson/Deathlok, a veteran character, Arnim Zola from HYDRA and maybe even Brett Dalton’s traitorous Grant Ward?
With 13 episodes in this final season, there’ a lot of room for some awesome surprises.
