North American Tour of ‘The Lion King’ Musical Offering Awesome Digital Content
Disney’s award-winning musical “The Lion King” will be offering a day of FREE live virtual content on the Disney on Broadway Instagram page on Monday, April 27, 2020 to commemorate the 18th Anniversary of the North American tour!
Jack Eldon, Vice President of Domestic Touring & Regional Engagements at Disney Theatrical Productions said, “Despite the tour currently being on hiatus, we are so pleased to offer fun content and to continue engaging with our audiences, who we miss entertaining in-person.”. He added, “We look forward to announcing the tour’s return at a later date and to sharing once again the magic of live theater, which is our greatest passion.”
Let’s take a look at the events happening on Monday, April 27th:
12:30pm (EST) – Join a Disney teaching artist who will lead a Lion King musical theater workshop. During this event fans will have a chance to learn music and choreography from the musical. The workshop will also include appearances from members of the North American tour cast. This includes Brandon A. McCall (who plays the role of Simba) and Erynn Marie Dickerson (from the Ensemble)
4:30pm (EST)- Michael James Scott (who currently plays the Genie in Aladdin on Broadway) will be hosting an episode of his awesome Instagram series “MJS Live” where he’ll be interviewing Ben Lipitz (the actor who has played the role of Pumbaa since 2003.) as well as Stefan Monssen (a percussionist for the tour) and Kendra Moore (former Dance Captain) for the tour. The current assistant company manager will also be present.
Join them as they reflect on their experiences of being a part of this exciting show through the years!
The North American tour of The Lion King first launched back in April 2002 when it made its debut in Denver. Since that time it has played over 10,000 performances in 91 cities to more than 21 million audience members!
Join us on Monday in celebrating this achievement and keep following along with MickeyBlog for even more Disney on Broadway news and updates!
