Mark Ruffalo Talks About the Future of Hulk
Mark Ruffalo has portrayed The Hulk in six movies. The last was the 2019 “Avengers:Endgame“. But the future of The Hulk is uncertain and with no real projects in the queue for Ruffalo’s mean green machine fans may have to wait to see him on the screen again.
Cheadle’s Comments
In a recent Variety article, Don Cheadle, a close friend and co-star of Ruffalo, talks about his work with the Hulk. Cheadle says he and Ruffalo bonded on set because they were both forced to wear the tech gear required for the CGI work needed for their characters. Cheadle talks about Ruffalo’s investment in the Hulk’s character.
“Mark and I get to share that misery,” Cheadle said. “Everyone else is walking around in their cool clothes. Mark and I are walking around in these unitards with symbols and dots and balls attached all over them. Mark has it worse than anyone because he has to wear that rig over his face.” (Variety)
Thor: Ragnarok
Taika Waititi, the director of Thor:Ragnarok has similar respect for Ruffalo. He also tells Variety about Ruffalo’s dedication to the character of the Hulk. Ruffalo insisted on doing all of the CGI work in the 2017 movie. “He wanted to show that Hulk was driving the vehicle and Banner was left in the trunk,” remembers Waititi.
The Future
Although nothing official has been planned, Ruffalo mentions he may make an appearance in the Disney+ series “She-Hulk”. He also mentions a stand alone movie for the Hulk is not out of the question. Ruffalo would like to fill in the gaps of the Hulk’s story. But, he grew up an X-men comic fan, and with Disney now owning the rights to X-men films, “Maybe Hulk and Wolverine could hook up,” said Ruffalo.
