Artemis Fowl Will Skip Movie Theaters, Debut on Disney+!
Faced with unprecedented circumstances, The Walt Disney Company has once demonstrated daring and innovation. Artemis Fowl will soon become the most expensive movie ever to debut on Disney+!
Why Disney Did This
Walt Disney Pictures spent $125 million on a theatrical adaptation of Artemis Fowl, the beloved book franchise that began in 2001. Described by many as the next Harry Potter, Artemis Fowl has seemed like a surefire blockbuster throughout its development.
Unfortunately, Coronavirus has shut down theaters around the world, forcing Disney to decide how to approach its upcoming movie schedule.
The studio division recently announced several changes, many of which claim all the hottest spots on the release schedule.
With no great dates available and a lot of debate about the short-term future of movie theaters, Disney has boldly chosen to unveil Artemis Fowl on Disney+.
The studio hasn’t announced the exact date when Artemis Fowl will arrive on the service. However, co-star Josh Gad has chimed in with his support for the decision:
Since you can’t come to us, we’re coming to you. So thrilled we are able to bring #ArtemisFowl to your homes soon on @disneyplus so that everyone can expierience this magical film. NOTHING can ever replace going to a theater, but during these hard times it’s important to adapt. pic.twitter.com/1wSYGvq4Er
