Landry’s Corporation is Reportedly Shutting Down Business
The Landry corporation, which owns Rainforest Cafe in Disney Springs and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as T-Rex in Disney Springs and Yak & Yeti in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, is being reported to be shutting down business completely and letting all of its employees go due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Apparently, according to Facebook user Regina Gizzo, this is all sudden and without notice. See below:

Landry’s has released the following statement:
“Landry’s is closely monitoring developments around the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
We are in the business of serving people and in the midst of this coronavirus outbreak, it’s important that we give you as much information as possible about the procedures we follow to clean and operate our properties and maintain a sanitary environment as our employees cannot work from home.
Topmost on our minds is the safety of our employees and our customers, which is why we have taken, among other things, the following preventive measures:
- frequently sanitizing surfaces;
- reinforcing appropriate hygiene amongst our staff;
- following all guidelines recommended by the CDC;
- adhering to travel bans and prohibiting employees from returning to work;
- ascertaining that our vendors and suppliers are engaging in prudent preventive measures; and
- doing all we can to keep our employees abreast of COVID-19 developments.
Our management is in contact with the CDC and other federal agencies to understand the most up-to-the-minute information to ensure the actions we are taking are comprehensive and appropriate.
Similar to most retail and entertainment environments, our properties allow for the individualized spacing of guests and therefore, as of this time, we have not made the decision to close any of our properties. Such a decision would invoke a personal hardship to our employee base of over 60,000 people. We are closely monitoring all other similar social meeting industries, facilities and places such as malls, theatres, parks, beaches, shopping centers, wholesale warehouse clubs, grocery stores and department stores, etc. and are prepared to quickly follow suit in the event the government requests that all such facilities close down.
The bottom line is that we remain acutely vigilant about this serious crisis. We will continue to do everything we can to protect our employees and our customers, and to remain ready to serve our customers in the most appropriate fashion.”
Twitter user @krissybjj reached out to Governor RonDeSantis in her tweet asking, “How are Resturaunt workers of Tillman Fertitta’s Landrys establishments supposed to live off of $58/week of unemployment? While being charged $10/per 2 weeks by Tillman even though we arent there. We were given no guidance. No vacation pay.”

100% no notice, was told to my face at work “we’ll do what we can to protect you even if it’s just you getting a few hours to scrub all surfaces” 2 hours later I get an EMAIL “go file for unemployment send reapply when we can open again, when you reapply we will give you priority hiring” ffs
It sounds like Tillman Fertitta. Did he do the same with Houston or Morton’s?
