Dog That Played Stella in ‘Modern Family’ Passes Away
It’s a sad day for fans of ABC’s hit show ‘Modern Family.” The news has come out that the dog who played Jay Pritchett’s beloved canine companion Stella has died.
A spokesperson for Disney Television Studios confirmed to USA TODAY in a statement that came directly from the series’ co-creator Steve Levitan that the dog (named Beatrice) had indeed passed away.
Levitan added, “While she was occasionally a major diva who made unreasonable demands and often questioned her ‘motivation,’ most of the time Beatrice was a delightful and lovable presence on the ‘Modern Family’ set,” he continued. “She brought smiles wherever she went and was completely convincing in her role as a dog.”
“We will all miss that adorable scrunched-up face,” he added. “Enjoy doggie heaven, sweet Beatrice/Stella.”
It is believed that Beatrice will make her final appearance as Stella in the long-running hit comedy’s season finale which will be broadcast on April 8, 2020- marking the end of Modern Family’s 11 season run.
RIP Stella and thanks for all the laughs.
