Moats of Cinderella Castle are Being Drained For Upcoming Renovation
As we previously reported here at MickeyBlog, Cinderella Castle will soon be undergoing a makeover of golden proportions!
To celebrate 50 magical years of the theme park and 70 magical years of Cinderella, the park is currently undergoing a regal refurbishment to the outer facade including a new paint job featuring towering golden turrets and glistening trim.
Our MickeyBlogger is on the scene at Magic Kingdom today and reported that the moats around the castle are slowly being drained of their water to enable crews to start the castle transformation.
As you can see only a bit of water remains as we look toward Liberty Square.
The water levels are a bit higher as we look toward Tomorrowland with a damn set up to prohibit water flow into the castle area. It won’t be long before work commences on this massive project. Disney World released an official statement regarding the project earlier this month. Here it is:
Just like how Cinderella herself transformed into a princess when the animated classic was released 70 years ago this week, her namesake castle at the heart of Walt Disney World Resort will soon be made over with bold, shimmering and regal enhancements befitting the park so many hold so near and dear to their hearts. We are so excited to also share this beautiful concept image with you which shows the castle featuring a brand-new color scheme created by Walt Disney Imagineering for Cinderella Castle.
The makeover is slated to continue throughout the Summer of 2020. However, Disney World stresses that guests will still be able to enjoy both the evening “Happily Ever After” fireworks display as well as Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire.
The change to the castle will be permanent and is expected to usher in a new era of magic-making!
