Disney Returns Family’s Phone From the Bottom of Seven Seas Lagoon
The Troyer family from Montana wrote Macrumors.com to tell them about losing their I-phone 11 on a family vacation. The family spent a week at Disney with their daughter. After Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party they were boarding the ferry to return to the resort and the phone fell into the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Sophie Troyer, age six, was devastated her pictures from Mickey’s Not So Scary were gone. This was a dream trip for her and after spending the evening with Jack Skellington and Mickey and Minnie she would not have the photos to commemorate the trip. Her mother talked to Cast Members at the resort and gave them her contact information.
Seven Seas Lagoon is a body of water in front of the Magic Kingdom where Disney operates their water transportation. The cast member Ms. Troyer spoke with said occasionally divers do search the bottom of the lagoon and find items. But, she was not optimistic and returned home to buy a new phone.
Over two months later the Troyers received a call from Disney and the phone had been found. A Disney employee mailed it back to the family and other than some sand and algae the phone was in working order. The Troyers had their pictures back and Sophie was thrilled. They were so impressed with not only Disney but also the apple product, Mr. Troyer wrote to Macrumors.com and the Apple CEO, Tim Cook.
There are a few people who were questioning the loss of the photos and why I-Cloud was not used. Here is Jake Troyer’s response from Macrumors.com
Lisa wasn’t on wifi to upload her pictures. She definitely has iCloud. She did have her other photos on iCloud.
We aren’t sure how deep the area of the dock was when the phone went in the water.
The Disney World employee who called Lisa had said they had just pulled the phone out of the water and it was the only one that worked from the others they discovered
No. We did not buy our daughter an $800 phone. That’s ridiculous.
No. This is not from a Disney World press release. It happened in real life.
